CA Sec. of State Election Results page

The first 3 were "yes" in the initial returns but have been hemorraging as more votes come in. Could still go either way on the first 3 since only 36.9% of precincts are in, but it looks like the rest are down for the count so far.

I don't live in CA. I'm posting this as a public service :p

Not nearly as much of a joke as you are, nor the Democratic and Republican parties.

If all the props do indeed die it will prove two things:

1. That the best way to campaign for something is to use LIES, FEARMONGERING and SMEAR TACTICS as the opponents of Schwarzennegger's propositions have done, to great effect.

2. That the population of California is the most STUPID, MORONIC group of people on the North American Continent.

Personally, if I were Arnold I'd sit in Sacramento until 2008 and veto *NOTHING*. I'd let the legislature pass 100% of it's half-baked SOCIALIST agenda, pass every single tax increase they can muster, and sit back and smile while the state hemmorhages every affluent business, every industry flees to better ground and all the hardworking people run to Arizona and Nevada because the LEGISLATURE'S failed policies have driven the economy into such a state of affairs that over 95% of the state's people are UNABLE TO AFFORD TO BUY A HOUSE.

I was covering this in the VA thread but it deserves it's own. Now it's at 48.9%.

The only close ones at this point are..

73 49.4% for 50.6% against
74 47.6% for 52.4% against
75 50.5% for 49.5% against

Actually, I'd nominate the people of Kansas for the "stupid, moronic" label, after today.

You're right about the smear tactics that Dems used this time around- seemed kind of reprehensible. Too much "Vote this way because you're a party member!" crap happening. I felt good about voting against the abortion BS, but i honestly felt better about the couple that i voted against party lines on. weird.

anyways, tone it down. state legislature is a joke anyway, no need to take it as seriously as that. socialist? i think not. the problem is that the democrats look incredibly left wing when compared to the absurdly reactionary GOP legislators that keep getting elected.

LA county is now just at 8.5% reporting, which has 20% of the states voters.

All props should go down in flames once LA county is done reporting.

The general trend is also lousy for all 4 main propositions, with them starting off in much better shape, and the no growth progressively increasing as voter totals increase.

Think not all you like; you're wrong. The Dems in California are absolutely *not* representative of Dem's elsewhere in the country as a whole. What the folks masquerading in Sacramento as Democrats truly are is *Socialists*, through and through. They want to spend like there's no credit limit, like they can afford anything and everything because they're the *State*. The Republicans in California, indeed in the entire country if the last few years of "Don't tax but spend anyway" policy are any indicator, are no damned better. Yes, the California legislature IS a joke--an incredibly expensive, UNION CONTROLLED joke.

As for 73, it was a *stupid* proposition that did almost *nothing*. The idiots who opposed it exagerated (Barbara Boxer, "It could overturn Roe v Wade!"...yeah, right) its importance, and the idiots who supported it overexagerated its importance ("It'll save millions of baby lives!"...yeah, right).

California is a *lost* state, pure and simple, and it's people, I contend, are the DUMBEST in North America.

Proposition 75 is now behind with more no votes than yes ones, I'd say its virtually certain all 4 propositions are going to be voted down. This certainly doesn't look like a good sign for Schwarzenegger's re-election chances.

sometimes running back to back.

but I think we will see a bunch of people coming out of the woods talking about this for the rest of the week.

Yeah, but that was done before this election. 74-77 were all *No-brainer* propositions. They ALL made good sense, they ALL would have contributed to the overall betterment of California and its people.

Californians proved tonight that they don't understand what the term "Liberal" means, nor "Progressive", and that they reject the idea that the people have a right to DEMOCRACY, that the government is the servant of the people.

I'd like to see Arnold come out tomorrow and tell California, "I tried to help, but you refuse to help yourselves. You are a population of morons. May your backs break under the labor of $4,000 a month house payments which the legislature of California has guaranteed for you. Enjoy never being able to afford to pay off your home, enslaving you to a bank forever. Enjoy allowing the Public Employee Unions to dip into your pockets at any time and for any reason whatsoever without your consent. Don't call the police when people steal from you anymore; you asked for it. Don't ask me to veto a single spending bill from the legislature ever again. Don't ask me to reject a tax increase--it will never happen.

"Suffer, Californians, as you deserve. Suffer, you disgusting, worthless morons."

I live in Cali, and it absolutely disgusts me these ref's aren't passing. As far as I'm concerned, Arnold is doing exactly what he should be doing. It's not his fault the people are too moronic to vote yes to these ref's.

It would be bizarre for Warren Beatty to win *anything*, LOL. Talk about your loser, hasn't-been actors, heh :) He only wishes he had the movie success Arnold has.

Honestly, Arnold's a guy who arrived here with $20 to his name just over 30 years ago, and now he's governor of the state and a multi-millionaire. This man is the *embodiment* of the American Dream, pure and simple, and the idea that people sneer at him rather than admire and try to follow in his path is evidence that the majority of people in California are filled not with high hopes, not with concern for their children or their loved ones, but with self loathing and with *horrible* ENVY.

Truly disgusting.

Almost 82% of precincts reporting now. All propositions getting shot down by at least 3 points.

haven't really followed the election this year, but i think that arnold pissed off too many people at the same time. propositions he endorsed are mostly good, but most people see it as a waste of money.

the things arnold has been doing has been disappointing also, with the special interest giving him money and stuff. I'd like to see gerrymandering stopped, but i guess i'll have to wait for another time.

california democrats suck.

It's not so much that Arnold has done anything wrong, it's that the Unions have been lying their ASSES off on TV commercials for *months*. Eventually that crap adds up, and for whatever reason, Arnold's idiot staff didn't get his mug on the air to refute their lies. If he'd been on the air *regularly* and confronted the lies and challenged the LIARS, his ratings would have stayed sky-high.

More importantly, he should have had these issues on the ballot within 3 months of getting elected. There was NO CHANCE at that stage that even the best liars in the state, who primarily work for the Unions and OWN the Democrats and Republicans in California, could have defeated the propositions. Californians at that stage were *stoked* for a change and would have leapt for the chance to change the system.

Unfortunately, stupid people have short memories and are too politically ignorant to realize that all the problems Gray "Gumby" Davis left behind are still here--and the legislature LIKES it that way.

Californians just offered their well-lubed butts to the politicians on a platter. Congratulations, folks!

Congratulations, folks!

that is your view. Arnold placed MANY issues and passed them the first year, namely the bond to paper over the state deficit. I voted for them because the alternative was worst. You can call people stupid, you may attack people for not voting the same way you did ... which is what happens when you legislate by initiatives. People vote. Don't like it. Tough. Come back with something that will get passed.

You also have revisionist history. You paint Arnold as some kind of defenseless victim of big bad union bosses. Arnold pissed off many groups with his actions - cutting education by 2 billion dollars, fighting nursing staffing laws and pension reforms. He called the legislature "girlie men" and wanted to kick their butts (as well as the nurse's union). You piss off too many groups, they will unite and return fire.

Do you remember that Arnold and the legislature worked together the first year? Did you hear Arnold talking about wanting to work with the legislature tonight?
Did you know that the Pharmaceutical companies spent the most amount of money of any group defeating Prop 79 Big Pharma spent 80 million dollars to defeat Prop 79

Unions are always outspent by corporate interest. What Arnold was trying to do was to punish and silence his critics and the people of California said no to his special election.
I take this defeat of all propositions on the ballot as a message to Arnold and the legislature to get back to work to do the people's business. I am encouraged by Arnold's words tonight about wanting to work with the legislature while you just want to vent and attack.

Ahnold, along with the rest of the Bush people out there, are gonna get thrown out. I'm voting against ANY Republican sponsored initiatives on principle. Any vote for any Republican issue is a vote for Bush.
So much for his mandate....
