C2D System $1100 - Ready to Buy

For the video card, a $200 X1900GT would give you much better performance.

As for the RAM, it would be hard to guess. The motherboard boots RAM at 1.8V, and the RAM requires 2.0V, so it might boot, and it might not.

Anyways, this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820148017) RAM performs far better than anything else in the $230 price range... people are getting these things past DDR2 1000... and yes, they use D9 Micron chips. 🙂

You can get the X1950Pro for $199 @ zipzoomfly. Case and PSU = Antec SLK3000B (Provantage.com) and Enhance ENP-5140GH (ewiz.com) Stay away from the OCZ Gold.

What's wrong with OCZ Gold? Is it just the DDR2 you don't like? Because I have some Gold DDR with original BH5 on Brainpower PCB and it's just about the best memory I ever had.

Eh... there is no OCZ Tin... but if there was, it would be spelled "G-O-L-D"...

There is better RAM to be had for $230... such as the Crucial I mentioned.

Nice build.....I put one together recently with almost same exact parts..though I did not get the high end video card....Worked like a charm and the stock E6300 with stock cooler and 1gb of cheaper 533ddr2 patriot ram and the system can do 2.7ghz....The ram crapped out with lack of lower ram dividers but with some high end DDR2 800 stuff the E6300 hit 3.4+ghz....

That was with same 450watt PSU in the Sonata II case...Now I think you coudl run a high end video card with it as well, but ocing may be limited...

WTF are you talking about? What 'tin'? Who mis-spelled gold?

OCZ is known for a while to have compatiblity problems w/ P965 and 975X chipsets. If you wanna go OCZ, get Platinum instead, or just get another brand.

Well I guess they've gone down hill. Pity - it was/is a good company with great customer service.

I think it would be best to spring for a little more quality PS that will last you longer. A 460W Masscool Nextherm or Enhance ENP would be good.

I don't like the LCD choice my bet is that the panel isn't very good and it ghosts not a quality lcd.

I am not a big fan of wireless internet connection either maybe you can get a wired connection move modem/router? run a RJ-45 cable through a wall?

I second the X1950 Pro card. Much better than the 7900 GS, and only a few bucks more.

Thirded.

Everything else looks great... awesome choice on the RAM...
