I've been researching motherbaords with dual 16X PCIe connections as well as a 8X PCIe connection for RAID card configurations. However, with the 690i boards coming out costing $400, I just don't think that there is going to be a point to doing this.

Anyway, if you happen to spot a mobo with PCIe 8X, post it in here if you get a chance, because searching for these specs is a PITA.

Also, through the research I've been doing, not many (if any?) SLI boards will allow a non-graphics card in the other x16 slot. So that makes searching for a motherboard that can handle a RAID card that requires x8 PCIe that much harder...

So? That's one board and if you knew ZZF, all of the products they list before they're available are always jacked-up in price. And when available, the prices are always much lower. That board will be around $299 when available.

Go to newegg and check out eVGA 680i board - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188009. It's not $400. If you're looking to use RAID, you should be going with a workstation conroe mobo for $300 and go pci-x

Actually, that's what I'm coming from. I have a Supermicro X5DAE with PCI-X, but I want to go PCIe. So I'm looking at other routes. :)
