Has anyone else noticed the sheer non-existence of any laptops equipped with the relatively new GTS250M and any processor other that the i7?

I for one was waiting for this video card to come out because of its good price/performance and power/performance ratio and am a little bummed that that it only exists being lumped with the higher priced i7 processors. The video card bundled with a decent C2D would of provided quite good gaming experience while being around the $1k mark.

New cards tend to be put together with the new CPUs in laptops. But thats something to take up with one of the laptop manufactures. You may be able to have a laptop custumized with a C2D rather then an i7.

Would not mind them being pared with the i7 if there wasn't a $250+ price premium attached to them (the i7) for laptops. All of the build-to-order outfits I checked so far do not provide the option of C2D and the 250M...yet. Hope as supply of the chipset increases this will change.

Why settle for the 250M?

My Asus was $999 at BestBuy with a GTX 260M.

So quality wise, Asus should be fine? I have had a lot of their products but not a laptop yet. We've had Dells, which seem to be break periodically. God thing their warranty is great for repairs. Also had a Toshiba which never broke but just got outdated.
Also, MJinZ, what's the warranty with urs at BB? Newegg has all of their Asus line with 1 year accidental and 2 years labor and parts....

Being on my second ASUS laptop now...

ASUS isn't top of the line for build quality or service, but they aren't the worst either. I find that a mid to high-end ($1000-1200) Dell laptop will be better constructed than a similarly priced ASUS, but getting support from either company is a mixed bag. On the other hand, people rave about how excellent ASUS's Eee line is constructed, while I've been horrible dis-satisfied with Dell's lower end offerings such as the 15" Inspiron my girlfriend's sister owns.

Based on the info on the notebook video card review site, the GTS250M is 47 watts lower than the GTX260M and is only about 10% below it in performance.

True this will result in only a half hour more or so on battery life but wanted something decent at gaming where I am less likely to be tied to an outlet.
