C2D E6600 - Windows thinks 3825MHz when it's 3400MHz?

Hi there,

I'm running my E6600 @ 8x425MHz=3400MHz which is what the BIOS POST and cpuZ report, however, Windows (through Control Panel/System, DXDIAG etc) report 3825MHz (I suspect 9x425 = 3825, as 9 is the default multiplier).

Is this normal? Seems a bit odd. The benefit is I can convince people on IRC (via moo.dll) I have my CPU @ 3.8GHz :)

DXDIAG reports the clocks by using the default multiplier and the current FSB, so if you drop the multiplier, DXDIAG will report false clocks.

Yup - its because of the multiplier. It seems a lot of programs report the CPU speed as if you were using the default multiplier.
