C2D Build around 1000 bucks!

I have built many systems and have a pretty good understanding of everything. The thing is i have ALWAYS built AMD machines and i am now about to build my first Intel.

I have about 1000 bucks to spend and i already have an Evga 8800GTS 640MB. 99% of the time i use my PC for gaming. I do some downloading and converting to DVD. But mostly this will be for casual surfing and A TON of gaming.

The cheaper the better IMO im selling my current rig for 900 and i have to buy him an 8600GT card. The 8600GT has to be included in the 1000 budget. I figure its about 120 bucks from my browsing on newegg.

The current parts i have picked are:

Thermaltake Armor Series VA8003BWS - No compromise here this is THE tower i want. $169

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 - Not sure about Intel boards. I have read this is a great board for the money. $110

Corsair CMPSU-520HX 520watt - Again not sure about this i have always used Enermax but i hear this is the new king of PSUs. $125

C2Duo E6600 - I see this is the current best bang for your buck CPU. With the price cuts coming up i figure this will be the sweet spot. I generally dont like to OC i like to keep everything at stock so i dont want to go the E4000 route or anything much less than 2.4ghz. I currently have a skt 939 FX-55 and dont want to go any slower really. $223

Corsair XMS 2GB DDR2 800 Dual Channel Kit - I have always used Corsair ram and i figure this should do for me. $128

Western Digital WD250KS 250gb 16mb buffer HDs - I have built TONS Of pcs with this HD and i have had ZERO problems so i figure ill keep with it. Going to buy 2 of them however so that i can use one for backup and storage of movies/games. $130 for 2

Samsung 18x DVD Burner with Lightscribe SATA SH-S183L - Dont know much about dvd burners i have used the NEC 3550A for years. I want to get a lightscribe drive and sata. $39

Not sure on OS. Im figuring i will stick with Windows XP for now and do Vista some time next year. $90 for XP

Total this comes to around 1100 which is close to my budget. With the price cuts on the CPUs later this month i figure it will be VERY close to 1000 and i can swing it.

Im not concerned with SLI or OCing so keep that in mind if you are going to suggest other parts for me. I would really appreciate any feedback on the parts i have chosen.

Everything looks great, just a couple of things.

1. Get the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R board and don't look back.
2. Wait for the price cut and get an E6750 instead, its clocked @ 2.6Ghz with a 1333Mhz fsb.

Good luck.

Just a few comments.

1) I agree on getting the GA-P35 board, it's only about $130 on NewEgg for the non-DDR3 version (which I'm assuming wouldn't be too useful for you anyway).
2) You can get the Corsair 520HX for $89 on Buy.com right now. Even NewEgg has it for $99 (AR, I think).
3) I'm not even sure if this is true, but someone on AT (along with the single NewEgg review) says that Seagate has a 250gb drive... SINGLE PLATTER. This means the performance numbers are crazy good... one thing, though - it would be new hardware if it was a single platter, which means it might be prone to failures and such. Here's the link if you're interested. $70 for a single 250gb drive, so slightly more than your WDs.

Ya all the prices are from newegg. A few of those have Rebates i just didnt include that in my prices since thats money i will get back much later down the road. Its where i do 99% of my PC shopping. I think id like to stick with WD for my HDs however i was thinking about going with the P35 board and i guess that is what i should do. Its just 40 bucks more and i was trying to pinch pennies at this point since im already a little over budget. Maybe ill just get one hard drive for now so that i can get the right parts. Do you guys think i should spend the extra cash and upgrade to the 620HX? I was debating on that. I just want to be sure that im 100% safe for the next 2 years or so. Id like to only have to upgrade the gfx card, the OS, and possibly upgrade to quad core when its more main stream.

Thanks for the input guys! Its very much appreciated.

One more question for you guys. If i go with the P35 board can a Thermaltake Blue Orb fit on it? I have one of these and REALLY like the way they look. If it wont what would you guys recommend for a CPU fan? The case im getting has a crazy HUGE 250mm fan on it also so im worried that anything too big like the Tuniq might not fit.

Here is the case
