C2D 4300 too hot

I have a 4300 with a mild OC of 2.4 with the stock voltage, but it idles at 60c, under load it goes all the way to 80c in less than a minute. I have tried reseat the stock heatsink about 4 times, I put a little artic silver 3 *yes 3* instead of the original no differnce. I am planning in buying a new heatsink but I have very limited options in here, so I need to wait for a trip to the states to buy a new heatsink (maybe in a month), so I need to live with the stock heatsink for a few weeks. the only option i have here its a Cooler master Hyper 48+, I have read a few reviews and I think its not that good, so maybe I need to wait to get a good one.

My first guess is that you are getting a wrong reading. Does the heat sink feel hot to your touch? At 80C, it would definately be very hot if you touched it, so if it feels only lukewarm in reality, then the motherboard or software is probably giving you some bogus readings.
 
Either you don't have the heatsink completely seated (most likely), or you have one of the most concave IHC's I've heard about. When you reseat the heatsink, make sure you do it with the motherboard out of the case, so you can see which pegs seat completely, and more importantly, which ones didn't. If you just have a concave heatsink, use as much extra AS3 as you need, to fill in the gap.
 
kmmatney, I am using Core temp and TAT, both give the same reading.

myocardia, I agree, it must be it, next time I reseat the heatsink I will do it outside the case. I will report here any new finding.

BTW, I have a Lian Li case with 4 80mm fans, 2 intake, 2 exhaust.

Well after reseating and rotating the heatsink I now have a little better cooling, the Idle temps are around 53C, load with ortos 69C and loaded with TAT 75C. (all readings taken with TAT and Core temp at the same time)

I assume that I improved the cooling around 7C, which is good but I still not feel confident, It's a shame that I am missing good cooling, the cpu can do 2.4 with less voltage than the default voltage for 1.8. So I think I have a good 3.2 - 3.4 Ghz cpu in my hands..
