Specs:
XP 2100+
Epox 8RDA+
Radeon 9700 pro
2 Apacer Infineon 512 MB pc2700 sticks from newegg.
below is under stock 2100 speeds w/ the FSB at 133mhz conditions.
*C1 error is a Memory detect according to the manual.
the system was first put together w/ no problems and installed Win XP pro. tried running prime 95 and the system just hung, and wouldn't soft reset so i did a hard one. i just got the 2 tone something messed w/ yer system beep. CMOS reset did nothing so i went to sleep.
next morning the comp booted after CMOS reset. tried running win prime 95 again and crashed after 30 secs, and system just wouldn't boot up again. can't remember the error code but believe it was C something or another. tried CMOS reset and again did nothing.
next day the comp wouldn't post, so i took the CPU out, redid the heatsink, it posted and everything, so i thought maybe it was a bad installation of win XP. (the DVD-Rom used was kinda shotty) anyway, during first reinstall attempt got the IRQ error BSD and the comp froze. second attempt at the reinstall went without a hitch and everything was all good and happy.
day after the fresh reinstall comp just crashes w/ the BSD saying some inconsistency. (not as major as the first BSD, so i was like whatever i'll just restart.. then the C1 msg started showing up on the Mobo troubleshooter thingie, and the comp will not post.
worked w/ EPOX tech and got a new BIOS revision chip, and installed it, did nothing. RMA the old board and got a new 8RDA+ mobo, and just put it together, only to run into the C! error code and no POST.
I tried using only one of the 512 meg sticks, trying it in different banks to no avail. now i'm thinking it's the memory, but what are the chances of both sticks going bad?
what really sucks is the fact that the system was up and running before completely pooping out. i'd appreciate any kind help, thanks.
