c0000135 - Unable to locate component

I have about 90 pc's in my network and i'm using wsus and group policy to push updates to the pc's. All the pc's took service pack 2 without a hitch, except 2 dells. They both give the same message. Ive done a repair of the operating system on both of them. That will fix the problem until the next time wsus installs the service pack again. Anyone have any suggestions? Ive looked at this (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885523) kb article, and done everything it says, but with no luck. Any help will be appreciated.

A Stop c0000135 is often indicative of a corrupted software hive.

There are some really great threads here as well as some KB articles on dealing with a corrupted *system* hive. The steps used to correct that will be the same as for a corrupted software hive.

Search on:

"missing or corrupt" and "windows\system32\config\system"

and just FYI, any problems resulting from the installation of a service pack or recommended update are covered free of charge by Microsoft.

We want you to get this stuff installed so we aren't going to turn their back on you or charge you if you have problems. Most folks don't know this 🙂 Give MS a call if you want. We have teams of guys that specialize in just this sort of thing (I used to be on one of those teams)
