I use ZoneAlarm as my personal firewall, and when I last checked the folder where it listed in the message title, I don't recall seeing 609 MB of .tmp files.

These files have names like:

rDB4226.tmp and all have file sizes of 800 kb to 1.5 MB. Their modification dates range from 10/28/01 to today...

I'm running Windows 98SE and I.E. 5.0.

Does anyone know what's wrong?

And can I delete the files?

What about finding other .tmp files elsewhere, anyone have any good rules of thumb? (Like any .tmp files can go).

I'm no software expert. Any help is appreciated.

General rule of thumb, any .tmp file can go. If an application actually needs it the file will be locked (and you won't be able to delete it). From your posts it sounds like ZA is keeping a log for you of the firewall events, you can probably turn that off or adjust the amount of logged information. Unless you need that info, sounds like a bit of overkill on ZA's part.
