Everything I find says this negatively impacts performance. However, it's set to "Enabled" by default with my Asus E35M1-M Pro.

I found some blurb that says it should be disabled to maximize USB 3.0 throughput (the board *does* have a USB3 controller), and other sites only mention that it affects "performance" (what KIND of performance?!).

I'm not satisfied until I know what it does. What is the reason for this option? Why would it be disabled by default? Is it a "feature" to negatively-impact performance?

I can't answer your question but I had to disable it on my i7 920 as the PC would emit as strange high pitched noise every 10 or so seconds with it enabled.

C-state Pmin
Allows you to determine whether to let the CPU enter C1 mode in system halt state. When enabled, the CPU core frequency and voltage will be reduced during system halt state to decrease power consumption. Auto lets the BIOS automatically configure this setting. (Default: Auto)
