c-media, smp, and win2k cpu usage?

Anybody run across this? I put a cmedia chipset soundcard (9.95 from geeks, I couldn't pass it up) into a BP6 system that I threw together. As soon as I install the drivers, the usage on 1 cpu jumps to about 80-90%. I tried several versions of drivers, including some that I grabbed from Iwill's site for the DVD266, which I would have thought would work okay on an SMP system. Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this.
