C-Media CMI 8738 6-ch, no bass or treble?

I just installed my c-Media CMI 8738 6-ch sound card and immediately noticed more accurate/better EAX performance in America's Army: Operations.

Your teammates yelling "frag out" are very clear, while loading your weapon (making those neat kechuck kechuck kechuckchuck sounds) is also clear and audible.

However, there's no bass or treble adjustment available for the card! what's the deal? Is there any way to adjust it?

In many many ways I like it better than the Creative Labs jokeblaster Dead 5.1 X-loser PCI card I had, but the audio quality isn't as good (what did I expect for $12), so I'm hoping the problems associated with the Live 5.1 won't rear its ugly head again w/ this sound card.

IIRC, only Creative Cards have the bass/treble boost.

Either that, or very few cards have them. The reason being if you boost bass or treble from the "normal" position, it will distort the sound so much that it will make the sound card look bad, especially at higher volumes.

Nforce APU has bass and treble also through their mixer. Audio quality between C-Media and Creative Labs Audigy is like night and day. Invest in a real sound card.

I've used both and it is not night and day. They sound almost the exact same and I have had far fewer problems with my C-Media card.

You need good speakers to tell the difference. Although I have never had a problem with C-Media, keep in mind it is a software audio so it is only natural that it won't have as much problems as the Audigy. You can also go with a Turtle Beach if you don't like Creative.

I have Logitech z-560s, I couldn't afford the 680s. 🙁

EDIT: Oops
I just noticed you said "between C-Media and Creative Labs Audigy" instead of the "between C-Media and Creative Labs" that I read it as. I only have a SB! Live 5.1 X-Gamer so I wouldn't know about the Audigy, my apologies.

You are forgiven 😛
