C drive too small (partitioning prob)

My wife's PC has a 500GB HDD in and runs Vista. All is good except that C drive (50GB) has run out of space (D drive has plenty of space).

We've tried shrinking D drive by 25GB (using Windows Disk Management) with the intention of giving that space to C drive, but as I feared, the unpartitioned space has appeared at the end of the drive so it can't be allocated to C drive.

Is there another way around this (that preferably doesn't involve doing a fresh Windows install and doing the partitioning correctly this time)? Can that EaseUS (SP?) partitioning app do a bit of partitioning jiggery-pokery in the way that I originally hoped?

Some partition managers can move partitions to the end of the disk. I'm not sure if EaseUS will do it, but it's worth a try. GParted will work, if you can download its boot ISO and burn it to a CD.

Alternative is back up your D: partition on another device, delete the partition, enlarge C: to either fill the drive or just make it big enough, and either consolidate everything on C: or make C: bigger and make a new smaller D:, then copy your stuff back.

Third option: make that new 25GB partition on the end, map it to a folder on the C: drive (say, Program Files). Not optimal, but might be sufficient.

Cool, apparently EaseUS can (I thought I had done something like this before), just waiting for it to complete.

Yep, EasUS has my recommendation. Since it is D drive, this will probably take forever (since all the data will be at the front of the partition) but I have done this several times without issue.

Ditto here, EasUS is pretty good at doing this.
