I have windows XP Pro and some minor programs on this partition.

I have tried to defragment with Windows built in defragmenter but it remains heavily fragmented even after multiple passes.

I tried to defragment with Diskeeper Pro and same result after multiple passes.

Any ides?

How much HDD space do you have? That can be a significant factor in the reason WHY you can't defrag the drive anymore.

If a defrag in safemode doesn't do the trick, look at the defrag summary. Find the particular file(s) that are left heavily fragmented. Make a copy of them (which will get built in an unfragmented state). Then delete the original(thus removing the fragmentation). Run defrag again and see if the problem doesn't clear up.

Check out this defragmenter.LinkIf you like it use Power Defragmenter GUI 2.0.110 with it.link.It's the best defrag that I have used.
