It all started when i was installing WIN XP Pro and setup couldn't copy the files NTLDR and NTDETECT.com. I now get "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del" error while trying to finish the installation process. For some reason c:\ is inaccessible and installation cannot copy the NTLDR & NTDETECT.COM files. I tried doing it in DOS mode and i get "access is denied"😕. How can i regain access to the C drive? I can't finish the installation process & can't boot my computer at all. I don't want to loose my files. I am totally stuck and out of ideas🙁. Please help.

I'm confused... what condition was the drive in when you started installing XP?

Was it a new & blank drive or did you attempt to do an upgrade install?

Ok... Your odds of recovering your data are a bit better then.

The best bet at this point if you want to try & recover your files is to install the drive into another PC as a slave & copy the stuff off of it, then format the drive & start fresh installing XP pro... hopefully thats an option for you.

I actually did try using the recovery console but every time i tried accessing, it would just reboot. I've been doing so much research to figure out that installation couldn't complet because c:\ was denied, i'm relieved i can just use it as a slave on another computer. thanks again.:gift:
