Did not expect the outcome to be what it was. Not sure if C&D tends to be biased toward VW or not, but this was a fairly substantial victory for the GTI. I'll be interested in seeing long term test results and how these cars hold up.

2015 WRX vs 2015 GTI

TLDR; GTI scores 12% better overall than WRX in testing (188 of 240 vs 216 of 240 points)

While the WRX is certainly faster it just can't compete on NVH, ride quality, comfy, and just plain nice-ness. So the WRX is essentially an AWD weapon while the GTI is a pleasure to be with day in and day out.

Doesn't seem particularly biased, other than the fact that C&D puts alot of weight on a car being comfy and not as much emphasis on a car being fast.

+1 for the hatchy.

I can understand why, as it makes sense for every day drivers. I went from a 350hp genesis coupe, to my current car which is a dinky mazda3 hatch lucky to push 170hp. My ride enjoyment and experience hasn't really decreased that much because I only used that 350hp a few times. Most of the times I was probably accelerating about the same amounts as I do now in my mazda 3.

Agree. Why Subaru did not release a hatch version is beyond me. I had an older impeza and it was pathetic on storage space. I love having a hatch now. I might stick with hatches from here on out, I like them that much.

Reliability aside, the GTi really does have a lot of wins over the WRX. Depends if you're looking for a boy racer or commuter with a little pep.

This is why I'm anxious for long term test results. This might be on my list of hatches (I buy used) to consider in 3-4 yrs. Knowing about all the reliability probs VW has makes me pretty worried though.

The last few generations of GTIs are great. Always awesome build quality, really fast, good looking (I think the VW styling blows Subaru away) and they get good gas mileage.
