C&C Renegade refuses to update...

ok, I recently finished restoring my bro's PC. I started the thread about Windows Not Starting because of an error in the software. Well, everything else installs fine, Office, Half-Life, Photoshopm etc... When it comes time to put back in C&C Renegade, everything goes fine. But when I try to Update it with the latest patch, it says that it cannot proceed because one of the files has been moddified. All I did was a full install of the game, and I didn't even touch the files. I did a clean install of the game 3 times, and the update program gives me the same error message... What could be causing it?

are you sure you are using the right update file? I don't know about c&c, but in halflife, you either have to select the full install of the patch, or choose a version that updates from your current version, if it is a clean install of the game try searching for the full update file?

I am very sure I am using the right update file. I use the one for the English version only. There is only 1 patch (none of this full install, partial install crap). I tried the patch I downloaded from my computer, and it went half way, but then reported an error. I redownloaded one on his PC, and tried it, and it won't let it update at all...

when you did a clean install of the game, did you uninstall it via an uninstall program, or just delete the files?
