C & C Generals question?

It seems the framerate won't go higher than 31 no matter how i have the settings. Is it capped? and is there a way around it?

Thanks

The game may have some sort of forced V-sync in the engine, its common in the genre (Warcraft 3 is hard capped @ 60fps)

What video card are you running on? I have a Geforce 6800 GT and Generals runs almost always around 70 fps with detail set to max and at 1600x1200. It only slows down to 15 fps when i drop down a nuke. 😀

But like piesang said, you could try setting the game speed...

Also, on some maps I've noticed that during instense firefight with lots of units moving around, the game very processor dependent. I have a AMD Athlon XP 3200+ at 2.2 Ghz. I noticed a more of a difference in the frame rate when I upgraded the processor that video card during those moments.

I know my CPU isn't the fastest in the world, but it sure as heck isn't slow. If I upgraded to a P4 3.2 800fsb I probably wouldn't notice much of a difference in this game. Maybe I should go AMD (ARRGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!) ok! ok! what was I thinking!. Just funnin. 🙂 I do way to much video/audio encoding to give up mah P4.

Umm..

I'm not sure about that, I can tell when it's running at 30 fps and 60 fps.
Make sure you don't have any extra options on. I know in Halo that there is an option
that caps the game at 30 fps...
