C&C: 1st decade

trying to play generals: zero hour and it says directx 8.0 or higher needs to be installed.

well, it is installed. reinstalled anyway. still says it. rebooted my pc and still get the error. any idea how to fix this or will i need to reinstall it?

You have DX8 or DX9? Because I know there are many rehashes of DX8. Like DX8.1 for instance.

And when was the last update on the video drivers?

You should be running DX9 if you have XP SP2.

i had 9.0c installed but it said i need to have 8.01 or higher installed. reinstalled 9.0c and still won't work. even uninstalled and reinstalled zero hour and it still says i need 8.01 or higher.

I've had this same problem.

Under My Documents -> Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data delete or rename Options.ini.
