ok, well not that bad. But my old HDD is dead. At least the first partition. I'm running it as a 2nd drive from win2k. I run scandisk and it fizzles out, the system speaker emits a tone, then it says it was unable to complete the check, and then it says the device was disconnected. Shortly after it reappaers and I can read from the disk. Can i fix this?

If you need to salvage any data from this HD, DO IT NOW.

After you do it, try FDISK and reformat.
