i tried to connect 2 computer for networking ex.A has win 98' and win nt 4.0 workstation(dual boot) and ex.B has win 98 se. now ex. B has a more powerfull feature than ex.A but i tried to connect this 2 it wouldn't go! like the same workgroup name and same protocol, same client. my freind told me that ex. A was with a sever before i took it home from the office and the reason is the SID which he said is to format the ex.A and just install win 98'se then everything will work well. ex.A could not see(even on any dual bootable OS)ex.B and vice versa ex.A have it own username and a little entire network icon, while ex.B have the same sittuation but there is blank (nothing) inside the entire network even the ex.B username. now, is there a way to fix this

If the two computers are directly connected, are you using a crossover cable? If you are using a 'regular' cable, it would explain why the two computers cannot see each other.
