I can't find for the life of me any way to bypass entering your password everytime the computer boots using XP Home (sp2). I'm not familar with the 'home' version as I have only used the 'Pro' version a few times. 2k (which I perfer) and XP Pro allow a password and a provision to "remember password" at login time.

Doesn't the 'Home' version have the same??

start>run>control userpasswords2
Select user, uncheck "users must enter a username and password to use this computer"
Enter password when prompted.

I think you'll have to uncheck "use the welcome screen" and fast user switching in the regular users control panel as well, haven't used them in a while.

Ad easier way is to go into Control Panel / Users / select the user by doublclicking it and on its page select Change Password. Enter the current password, Tab to the New Password field, leave it blank and Tab to the Confirm Password field, leave it blank and click on the Change Password button.

All good suggestions - and another way is to use TweakUI and select AUTOLOGON.

Autologon

Hi, Gary! :)

I use to use TweakUI all the time untill I found that it has to run at startup for it to work.
There are other programs that will do more and don't add the the already bloated list of processes (many that shouldn't be there) that load at startup.

Not true! I use it all the time and it never runs at startup or in background. Setting up Autologon is a one time Registry entry by the program.
