Hey all. Here's my problem... I'm at work and would like to get on yahoo and play some poker, but when I try to connect to a room it won't let me in because I either have a firewall turned on, and not connected to the internet, or the room server is down. I'm guessing it's the firewall issue, but I don't have admin rights on this machine to make an exception for yahoo games. Is there any other way around this, or am I just out of luck completely? Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forums btw. Thanx!

#1) Most people here are network administrators themselves and will not help you bypass your company firewall.

#2) If it legit for you to play games at work, then contact the administrator of your machine to help you with this issue.

#3) Most companies log all internet useage for liability reasons, Eg. Employee's browsing kiddie porn, if it is not allowed, they can prove you were playing games.

#4) Depending on the size of the company this could prove next to impossible.

As stated, your asking on a forum where most of the posters are network admins at their own companies who restrict the very thing your trying to get around FOR A REASON. Sorry, no help here. I will praise your admin though for a job well done! PS, your companies network admin probably browses these forums as well, so watch your back.

Ask IT for the firewall proxy client so you can bypass it. If you have a legitimate need they are usually accomodating.

Or best course would be explain what you need to your boss and his boss so he can strong arm IT.

LOL, may be the Op is a CEO that wants to play poker in order to win big money and save the company from the Liability suit concerning an Employee unsafe surfing.

P.S. 7 posts and the guys that tell us to get off our High Horses did not post.

i just can't let you do that, the boss told me to lock the network down cause one of your coworkers spent to much time playing yahoo games instead of working. he calculated the amount of time 1 person spends surfing the internet, etc. and lunch time throughout the course of a 40 hour week is about 15 hours of productivity lost. he backed down on the whole lunch issue at least.
