Now going to charge monthly for phones? I don't know about iphone, but last.fm dropped the ball with their app and it skips and freezes like crazy. Now they want to charge for that? I uninstalled it just now.

I used to prefer it on my PC. I was hoping to use it on my phone, but found the app was buggy. So no I don't think so. I use Pandora and Slacker now on my phone. Mostly Pandora since Slacker botched the most recent app update.

I think people like the scrobbling feature to share/try specific stuff. The above alternatives are all computer-generated.

last was the better of them all when it worked. the app was buggy as fuck tho which is why i stopped using it

Yeah. Unless Slacker, Pandora, and several others also start charging, this won't make any difference. Enjoy losing tons of subscribers, Last.fm.

I've always found last.fm to be really repetitive the few times I used it. I'd always get the exact same songs when I played the stations.

That said it'll still work on WP7 and XBox 360 which is nice for me since that's the only places I ever used it.
