Bye Bye Canon A40/A70 digicam, hello Panasonic

I got the Panasonic over the weekend for $183 after taxes from the OM friends and family. For under $200, its a great camera. Pictures are sharp and bright, even in low light conditions. Canons are great but you have to pay the price, but for $183, you can't go wrong with the Panasonic.

nevermind,

It does seem like a good value.

It's an AWESOME value for a loaded 3.2MP digicam with 3.0 optical zoom, etc.

I'll stick with my Canon A70. Got it for $250 with a free 128MB CF card from OfficeMax a few months back.

Yeah the Canon A70 is one bitchin' digicam, all around awesome digital camera.

Nothing can touch it in it's price range (~$300).

Viper GTS

At 169, it would be a killer deal.
But at the normal price of only around 20 bucks less than the A70, I think the A70 is still the better option.

Now I really wish I had considered the Panasonic DMC-LC33 because I could get an Epson 825 printer for under $5 🙁

Just have to hold off for awhile there Rossman. Next year the 4/5 MP cameras will be in the reasonable range. I just bought a A40 in the AT FS/FT area, I plan to enjoy it even if it is only 2 MP!

I worked at CC for a few months over the summer, and couldn't figure out why the DMC L33 wasn't more popular, I thought it was a good cam for the money.

<--- Still a Canon fanboy tho 😀

man! I'm sad I missed the deal- I've been wanting to buy a good 3 MP for my parents.

Just bought the Canon A70 for about 292 shipped w/ 128 CF card. Good camera!

Good advice. As much as I love the A40/A70, I am starting to gravitate towards the S400.

So I think I'll follow your advice, wait until next year for a Hot Deal on the S400's successor.

hzl_eyed_grl - I think we will be selling our beloved Fuji Finepix 1400, one of the best digicams of all time (IMHO).

Where did you score that deal?
The lowest price I can find on the A70 is $265

Got the Panasonic at OfficeMAx last weekend - lots o' redeye when you use the flash but it's a great camera for the money.
