A quick glance tells me that the map is wrong as far as this presidential election goes. Very conservative Maricopa County is voting The Donald's punk loser ass out.

It's per county, majority vote total in each. But it's always wrongly used by the right in a failed argument that they are the majority.

The vast majority of red is empty, sparsely-populated and yes--completely uninhabitable land.

they are using a Geographic image to try and make a population argument, because republicans are completely stupid people.

Anyone that things land should vote, should be able see that it should be based on land value not square footage. There, my house in OKC should get me the same voting power as 75 anchors out in west Oklahoma. And my neighborhood, sitting on less than a quarter section has 365 homes, most worth more than mine. So we should have more vote than a whole county.

And LA county would be worth more than many states combined.

I wish this were true. Unfortunately, the way voting is set up in America, in some ways corn, dirt, and rocks do vote, or at least areas with lots of these and few people get far more representation than the urban ceters.

Tried explaining this to my kids while watching Kornacki going thru PA vote.

Philly area and suburbs vs rural states:
Bucks county: 624,000 ( ND: 762k)
Chester: 522000 ( AK: 724k )
Delaware county: 560,000 ( WY: 578k)
Montgomery: 800,000 ( SD: 880k)
Philadelphia county: 1.5 M ( MT: 1.1M)

These 5 counties have more people than 5 huge Western states combined.

Also Fd up when they have 10 senators when PA has 1 D senator.

It's' a stupid system. There has to be a way to better address the population discrepancies occurring in the senate. I just don't know what that is. Maybe the winning president gets to add 5 senators during his term? Or give the VP 4 votes? I dunno what to do here.

the grid type map is more helpful for conveying the population relationship. these are electoral college results (from 2012 2016) but delegates are based on state population so its proportional.

The number of delgates per capita varies between states. Even more so when you take into account average turnout.
