BX6 r2 and 1Ghz

If I throw in a 1 Ghz chip, will the board be able to handle and recognize it?

It says the bios can handle 700Mhz - But then again, the 1Ghz chips weren't out then.

Other members have posted success stories on putting a P3 800e chip on this board even though the bios upgrade allows up to 700. However, 1gig might be pushing it. But if you wanna give a try, shoot for it.

Ummm - I think I'll have to pass on that one. Any recommendations on good PIII and P4 boards?

Good P3 Mobo is the Asus CUSL2-C

it should work. it may not load up properly in the bios, but intel chips are multiplier locked so it should boot at 1 ghz (assuming its 1 ghz at 100 mhz bus and not 133 mhz bus)
