Hi Y'all,
I have recently setup a new PC with the BX133 Raid as my backbone. My problem is that it seems to be lacking in available IRQs. From what I read, of the 5 PCI slots, Slot one shares IRQ with AGP and Slot3 shares IRQ with onboard Ultra100 and slot 2 shares with slot 5. I would like to run two NICs, and AGP card and SBLive on this system. Here's wht I did:
AGP recieves no IRQ (set in bios)
Slot 1 has NIC with IRQ10 and no conflicts
Slot 2 has NIC with IRQ 5 and no conflicts
Slot 4 has SBLive IRQ 9 and no conflicts
Onboard Raid has IRQ11 and no conflicts
Here's my problem:
With only one NIC installed in Slot3 evrything works fine. I can access the internet through my router/switch and I can also share files and printers.
Once I install the second NIC in slot 1, I can no longer share files with any other computer. I can access the internet, but no file sharing. The only thing I can find that possibly could cause problems, considering the memory and IRQ are free, is that the NIC in slot 1, is that this NIC is the only one listed in the Memory in the device manager. It is listed under the PCI Bus on the same subnet as the AGP card. No other PCI cards show up here at all.
My setup:
Win2K Pro SP2(yes beta)
NIC 1 192.168.0.x subnet 255.255.255.x DNS and gateway set for router
NIC 2 192.168.0.y subnet 255.255.255.x no DNS or Gateway set
NIC 1 runs toe the switch/router
NIC 2 runs to a hub with on other laptop attached
Any suggestions?
