BX Master problem

Trying to resurrect an old MSI BX Master motherboard without the manual or disks. Got the downloaded manual off the website but getting a Hardware setup error on startup and thinking it maybe the ata66 bios. It shows the ata66 promise driver not found. Anyone know if this is to be downloaded and installed? Is it a true raid setup? Any point to another site for answers is appreciated.
Nice mb.

I too have this board (for now... 🙂 ) I think I used this for a driver for it... 🙂 And like most onboard raid setups its a software raid not hardware... But works just fine... BTW the raid ATA 100 drivers also work... 😉

It shows the ata66 promise driver not found.

What shows that? Windows, or is this a bios message? I'm suspecting you are seeing the "ultra 66 bios not installed because no drives are attached" (or something like that) message. Would I be correct on that? If so, fear not. That's just its cryptic way of telling you there aren't any drives on the controller.

Otherwise, please, more info is needed. I do have this board (for over 2 years now) and I know it inside out, so I can probably help.

The hardware setup error & beep code has gone with a bios update to 5.6 and the ata66 is probably as you stated. The new bios screen states no ata66 driver due to no drives connected on the two extra ports.

Its slowly coming together but nice to know there's some experience out there for me to tap.
Running the 700 at 933 and 1.75v right now.

Yep, that's what I thought. The only pain about not putting any drives on the ata66 is the extra long pause it takes while looking for some.

It is a damn fine board. I too ran a p3 700 @ 933 for about two years. I have since retired that cpu, and the board is now part of a fileserver running a p2 350 @ 434. 🙂 I think I will have that board for quite a while still.
