I have a question regarding overclocking with the BX Master...I dont know what I am doing wrong or if I am even doing anything wrong but here is what is going on. I cant boot the system over 840MHZ...it will post all the way up to 1012 MHZ..but will not go past the initial screen that tells you the processor type and speed...just hangs there and I can see my USB hub lights just flickering.. On MY Aopen board I had no problem loading windows at 930-967MHZ although at 967 it was somewhat unstable. This is a cb0 PIII 750E. However if I am in windows at the desktop, using the PC Alert utility I can change the buss speed to 126/31 and run at 945MHZ all day long, 3D mark 2000 runs fine and I have no lockups or any other problems. So why cant I boot up to windows at that FSB, but I can run that FSB once into windows with no problems?

I'm in the same boat, I can't go any higher either. I have a 650E and if I go over 126/31 windows locks up. I hope this isn't a down fall.

Well here is some wierd stuff... I can finally OC all the way to 126/31 from the boot...by simply disconnecting my self powered USB hubs... go figure!!! Now why is that? I can go almost into windows at 133/33 but locks ...probably a heat issue there... sure would like to know what gives with the USB deal though... thanks to Charlie for leading me to that solution anyway :D

Did you guys pull the pins? The jumpers, actually, sw2 and sw2. I typically take them off when I run at those bus speeds and higher.

My system:
Addtronics 6896a
400w Powmax Leadman PS
MSI BX Master
C566 @ 1020MHz
256MB PC133
CL TNT2 Ultra
Hollywood + DVD Decoder
Linksys Nic
SBlive Full
Adaptec 39160
2 X 9.1gig Seagate Cheetahs
2 x 9.1gig IBM Ultrastar 36LZX
Pioneer 303s DVD
Sony Spressa 8x4x32 Cdrw

I use this as for testing occasionally when my other rigs are full and I need more testing capacity, so I've found that overall, no jumpers works best.
I've got nothing usb, so can't help there.

I did put one back on so I will now try pulling it and see if that helps now that I can at least boot OC'D

PS: I can still use my USB periferals with the onboard USB, just not the hubs

Make sure you put it on a FSB setting where spread spectrum is off. Also, have you tried increasing the I/O voltage up from the default of 3.3v, I believe it goes to 3.6.
Have you also got a good strong Power Supply?

Im using a Powmax 400 watt PSU, and I have run the IO up to 3.5 with little effect..I tried it with spectrum off and on...actually got farther with it on..that was wierd in itself...maybe since I put this one jumper back on I just need to pull it to get where I need to..of course I am only using an ALPHA for cooling with smaller fans to keep the noise down..may need a bit more cooling

Im planning to install SCSI HDD in a couple days too..Ive been told that helps in the OC efforts too possibly
