buzzing noise with Seagate 1.5 TB Barracuda 7200.11

just bought a seagate 1.5tb 7200.11. checked the serial # on their site and the drive is supposedly unaffected by the f/w bug.

however, i'm getting an annoying buzzing sound from the drive. the noise is from just the drive spinning, and not access noise (it's there constantly). it's the noisiest drive in my system; actually, the noisiest component in my case (I have a fanless video card and my fans are voltage controlled.)

anybody else gets this with their drive? thanks.
 
I have a 3 day old Seagate 1.5tb that's used externally in a BlacX drive dock. No buzzing sound at all and it's sitting about 18 inches from my ear. I was actually surprised how quiet this drive was.

Check and see if the buzzing sound might be coming from how the drive is mounted inside your computer?
 
i pulled the drive out and laid it on a book on my table and put my ear to it. it's definitely the drive and not some other component or the case or mounting.
