buzzing monitor?

I recently went to play a game after around 3 weeks of not playing it and suddenly the monitor starts buzzing. In Windows I use a 1024x768 resolution at 75 Hz; the game is 800x600 resolution. This has only started happening now. The game is the free MMORPG called "MapleStory". I do not know if this happens with any other game.

The sound is not exactly a "buzz", but basically a beep except not intermittent but instead continuous. It isn't very loud, but well audible to my ears; the volume will fluctuate slightly occasionally. I am sure it is the monitor since turning off the speakers doesn't mute it yet it ceases as soon as I turn off the monitor itself or go back into Windows.

Also, it sometimes ceases for a few minutes after switching back into Windows and back into the game or turning off the monitor for a few seconds.

Is this normal? Is my monitor failing? It's a few years old (not sure exactly how old). What should I do?

EDIT: Is it possible for a programming error to cause this? It's in beta and they just released a new patch since the last time I played.

it's a problem with your refresh rate, or resolution. if it's running at either unsupported, it will buzz. newer monitors tend to handle hz flucations better, my a70 is 3 years old and has only started buzzing a few months ago too. check if you run at 75hz, weather if the refresh is running at 74 or something off.

it's not a prog error.

Okaay... well, like I said, this doesn't happen in Windows, just when I'm playing this specific game. In Windows, I usually run it at 1024x768 pixel resolution, at 70 Hz (I made a mistake earlier in my post). The game I am referring to runs at 800x600 resolution, and I do not know the refresh rate (assuming it can be changed temporarily during a full-screen program).

Also, the fluctuations in the sound are more pronounced, sometimes disappearing completely and at other times being quite loud (though it quiets a little after a few seconds).

Suggestions?

when you switch resolutions, you switch refresh rates a lot of times. it just may be one of these cases. go to your monitor's menu and ti should say what hz it's running at either in the main menu ro one of the deeper windows.

like for ex,i had a rage pro turbo oc'ed hooked up to a a70 from viewsonic. when i switched resolutions, frequencies would switch. sometimes, it would bring frequency over range(like 73.4 when it should be 72hz) mild distortions will cause a buzzing sound. heavy idstortions will screw up the image shown in your monitor. i've found that un ocing the video card takes care f the frequency distortion.

For the overclocking, unless this computer's intergrated video card came overclocked, it isn't.

0_o Whoa, the game runs at 100 Hz. I wonder if it's possible to modify that...
