buzz from bees

I hooked up some el-cheapo Philips Magnovox bees to my Sherwood RD-6105 hive and I have some audible hum. Like, loud hum. At normal listening levels the audio drowns it out, but if you're close it's really noticeable. Is it just the cheap bees? Is it the hive? Some other problem?
