Buying work clothes?

I've been lurking around here for a while (especially general hardware), finally decided to sign up. This may be a little odd but for my first post I have a question about work clothes.

I just started an office job and I've been wearing more formal clothes (suit, tie) - I've noticed that everyone else is wearing casual clothes. The catch is, I really don't have that much casual clothes (polos, jeans, whatnot).

Can anyone recommend some online stores (or real stores) that aren't too expensive that may have polos and jeans? Not to be anal here, but I like polos without a logo on them.. solid colored and I'm a total newb to jeans. I just have khaki's.

Btw if it makes any difference I'd like to not spend more than $60 on a single polo and not more than.. say $120 on a pair of jeans (which I'll hopefully wear for a long time).

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:

I think this is a good example of what I want to go for..

I'm trying to get similar jeans/polo.. so if you're a fashion guru or something, help me out!

Well.. I would like to at least go for medium quality and avoid K-Mart/Wal Mart type jeans.

I guess I'm lucky.
I can wear whatever I want, so long as it doesnt say: "FUCK YOU!" on it.
We even had a guy wear a pro-marijuana t-shirt once and no one in management seemed too concerned.

My first recommendation would be to search for outlet stores in your area. I always stock up at the Polo outlet because I just like their shirts a lot.

You could also hit up TJ Maxx or Marshall's if there is one of either in your area. Their clothes are basically end of season run off from major suppliers so all their stuff is still fashionable, good quality, and really cheap. I've gotten some real nice clothes from there a few times.

I don't really do a lot of clothes shopping except for Dickies but I don't work in an office. Sorry I can't help there.

I know Lacoste and Ralph Lauren are pretty popular... but they seem to be tooo popular.. I just don't want to wear the same shirts everyone else does.. or at least have the same logo. I find it a bit weird if I wore a polo that had a gator logo on it.

LOL Man, I wear Wrangler Jeans (name brand), they last forever even in my rough job, and I can get them at Wallyworld for less than $20. I think what you want is what's commonly known as "designer" jeans. ;)

old navy isn't bad as far as polos go. most of the shirts i've gotten there are unbranded. they're also inexpensive.

Yeah.. Designer or denim I think is what they're called.

Quality / durability don't necessarily equate with brand name / price. ;)

But hey, what do I know...the only clothing item I have that costs that much is boots.. :)

For work clothes try department stores - you can find some very good deals. If it's something I need asap I just swing by Kohl's. Good luck.

banana republic and j.crew make the best polo shirts, and you can find good jeans at department stores or random shops at the mall.

Thrift stores are loaded down with stuff like you're looking for. Start there, I do. Latest score: Izod long sleeve dress shirt, new condition (really, like it was fresh from Macy's) = $9.

Just go to Macys.

Most polos have logos.

Best jeans I've ever bought are buffalo jeans from Macys.

I've purchased sevens and those bastards start to rip. These buffalo jeans last forever.

In terms of shirts, polo are pretty strong but you don't want it...

Pretty much only wear buffalo jeans/polo/lacoste

How old are you?? I can't believe you don't have jeans.

Macy's clearance. Man last week I got a bunch of fancy Dockers pants for 75% off, about $15 each.

$60 for polos and $120 for jeans?

HAHA, no wonder people are in debt up their asses.

Some people like to dress nice.

No shame in that.

That's ridiculous.

I could buy probably 2 or 3 sets of slacks, shirts and ties for $120 and still look nice.

I had a look at that Banana Republic site. Who wears that crap?

go to a mall, shop around, and find what you like... it's not rocket science, unless you're like freakishly tall or fat and need to find a specialty store :p

I'm a big fan of Macy's. They usually have a lot of quality stuff for cheap. That and the people are friendly.
