I only have one PC, and will soon be upgrading it, including putting vista 64 on it. My current cista installation is on my Raptor.

I'd like to install vista 64 to a different HD, so that if for some reason it doesnt work I can quickly shove the old cpu/mobo/HD in and have a working computer again.

If it does work then I'll be happy to junk the old Vista install and will format the Raptor and put V64 on that.

If I buy an OEM licence, will I be able to do this, or will it die the second time I try to install it?

Just install Vista without typing your Product code - you will have 30 days for activation.

Excellent, cheers Rebel!

I've just gone self-employed and I'm suddenly aware of how vital my PC is to me now that I charge by the hour haha. I really need to get a 2nd one so I don't have to worry so much about this sort of shit.

OEM licenses are only tied to the mobo. The different drive will mean you have to activate it again (and probably call MS in the process) but MS won't give you any trouble in doing so.
