This person is selling a lens that he got with a kit and he never submitted a warranty card.
Anyone know if a receipt is required for warranty work or if Canon only warrants to the original purchaser?
receipt is usually needed. that's why i laugh at all the "blank warranty card" sales as it usually doesn't matter... it's the proof of purchase that is key.
the only time you won't likely need a receipt is on a system wide recall, like the 5D mirror. I'm the 3rd owner, and sent it in to get repaired.
Any lens work I have ever done with Canon has never required me to show anything other than proof of purchase. I believe the warranty cards even say not to send them in, its for informational use of the purchaser.

A kit lens shouldn't be that high ticket of an item this is warranted for. You should be able to by two and still be way ahead of the cost.
For higher end lenses, there is no transferrable warranty usually and with people used to disposable electronics most are being sold when they have issues.
