Have you ever bought/sold items with people you met through ebay for items that had no winning bidder?

They tell you not to do it, but that is only to protect their a$$'s. I dont see anything wrong with it. If they have good feedback then I dont see it as much different then trading on the FS/T forums.

I've done it many times, you just have to be ok w/ someone sniping it at the last moment.

Used to do it alot, not as much these days. Never had a problem with it, which is more than I can say about normal auctions.

usually they will talk you down for less then what your asking price is.
You don't have to pay FVF so its probably worth it!!!

The item up for auction is your property. Ebay, as a forum for auctions, cannot tell you what to do with your property. There are rules against your offering to sell off Ebay, but there are no rules against the seller offering to buy outside Ebay. And once the auction is over, you are free to do whatever you like with your merchandise. Ebay knew they had no say.... that is why they started the whole "second chance offer". They knew they were losing out on all those FVF and wanted some of that $$$.

The item is yours... and as long as you do not offer to sell outside of Ebay during a running auction, you can do as you please. But be careful, as if you do this, you will have no recourse from Ebay if things go wrong.

I've done it before with people that I've had good contact with, and purchased items as the winning bidder. They asked If i wanted to be notified of upcoming auctions before they listed them, giving me an opportunity to buy it first.

It saved me some time and money, but I'd only recommend it if the seller has a nice load of positive feedback, or you feel that you can trust them.

Yes. It gives the buyer much more leverage.

I've done it and it worked out fine. But I had a high level of trust in the seller (feedback, experience with them in previous transactions, etc)
