I have a 2005 Civic that I'm leasing for a few more years.

I'm moving to a big city and I don't really need a car anymore... is it possible to sell the lease to someone else?

Is it a legally legimiate thing to do, though, or is it just under the table "here take my car and pay me on a monthly basis"

Just sell the car and pay off the lease. Call the company you make your monthly payments to and ask them what the buyout on the vehicle is. Hopefully, it is less than the car is worth...otherwise you'll have to pay the difference.

Good thing it's a Civic though. They generally hold their value well and with gas prices going up again I don't think you'll have much trouble selling it.

Well I'm paying $250/month for the lease, but that's in Canadian dollars. I'm not sure if that's "good" for a 2005 civic.
