Buying parts for Altec Lansing 621 speakers

Here's the situation:
I recently purchased a Altec Lansing 621 speaker system from a seller from ebay (s2strading) but when I recieved it, they forgot to give the input cable and the remote. When I emailed them about it, they said they can either give me a full refund if I send back the package or a partial refund if I agree to keep it. I really don't feel like mailing the speakers back the things are huge and I don't wanna take the trouble of repacking them and sending them back. I'm thinking of taking the partial refund if I could buy the replacement parts somewhere. I've contacted Altec Lansing and asked them about about it, but they haven't responded so far. Is there any other place I can get replacement parts for the speaker system, besides Altec Lansing?

Greetings,

Looks like I am in the same boat as you are. I also won an auction from s2strading however the offer was different for me. They said in the auction that the right speaker is distorted which was mostly true when I recieved it today. However, I discovered that the signal coming from the sub to the speaker was the problem (i hooked the left speaker into the right speaker output slot and got the same result). Upon further investigation I found that this was actually a factroy referb from Altec that must have been deemed unfixable. Since you don't have a remote and therefore have no means of testing the speakers for problems I would try to borrow one ASAP. Maybe you can go into a local retailer that sell the 621 or the 2100 with your speakers and test them out. I believe that s2strading gets most if not all there altec speakers as referbished items from altec. I am not suggesting foul play but it is always best to check these things out. Also if you have been able to contact altec about recieving a replacement remote, please provide me with that info as well just in case I am unable to repair the sub myself and have to get a replacement one. Sorry I was unable to provide any direct help but I hope this information is useful.

hey I just found this auction with just the 2 satilites and the remote if you can get it cheap it would probably help you out. Ends soon so you need to act fast
Here is the link
in case that link doesn't work search ebay for altec 621 and click on the different auctions to find it.

thanks for the replys. After talking to the company for a while they finally sent me a new remote and the cables needed. Now the speakers work great. I haven't heard yet from Altec Lansing, i'll send u a msg if I do.
