I used to own a Motorola Q9M. I loved this phone. Long story short I could barely hear anybody on it anymore (had to resort to speaker phone), and got a new phone.

Without going into the reasons, I want to pick another one up. I went to eBay and see I can get it for $40-50. But I saw one listing say "A DATA PLAN IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PHONE FOR VERIZON WIRELESS CUSTOMERS!"

Is this true? The phone I have no does not have a data plan, and when I had my first Moto Q9M, I didn't have one either, hence my worry.

Thanks.

EDIT: For the time being, I reactivated my old Q9M and it works...talked to Verizon lady and all. So I guess it doens't need a data plan? I am reading online that the Q does but not Q9M?

yeah, pretty much everyone will require a data plan for a smartphone these days

$$$

that phone is so old, though, jeebus. get something modern and supported so you can actually do something with it

./if you just want to make phone calls, then get a regular phone and save the cash

I do - but I don't have a free upgrade for a few months....so going the eBay route. What other phone would you suggest for $40-50 from Verizon that I could buy?

My Samsung i760 didn't need a data plan. It's not that bad of a phone if you can live with winmo.
