If your main shot is sport, then get a fast lens, as fast as you can afford.
But the Tamron that you mention might be too short for sport photography.

Eventhough the kit lens is nice, not everybody need the 18mm/28mm view.
28mm/45mm might be a bit restrictive but if it fits your shooting style then why not ?
18mm/28mm is not wide enough for wide angle shooting. might as well save for 12-24mm lens.

Another nod for the battery. I only have one and haven't found the need for second yet.
Aside from long tele shot, the built in flash is amazing. Much better than those p&s built in flash.

As for budget zoom, another nod for Sigma 70-300mm APO Super Macro II. I got this over Nikon 70-300 ED. But if you want to shoot sport, save up for the big guns like 80-200 2.8 or maybe 70-200 VR 🙂

i take it you got my PM

I have Lowepro Orion Trekker but its too small because i keep getting more stuff, it will fit all the stuff you are going to but but it wont fit 2 SLR bodies 6 lenses a flash and filters
Here is the product link im selling mine check teh link in my sig, im going to buy a Mini Trekker AW

I don't really want a backpack type bag, more of an over the shoulder type thing.

Someone sent me this link for pix with the Tamron and they all look fantastic:

I think I'm gonna get it, but I gotta look around for some kit lens photos and see how they match up. I think the added speed of the tamron is worth it vs. loss of aperture because I want to do sports shots.

its only a 1 stop difference at 70mm
IMO not worth looseing the wide angle for, you coudl just up the ISO, or use flash or a tripod

ive never myself needed to use my sigma lens to get 2.8 @ 70mm, if i need that kind of speed i just use the 50mm f/1.8 or 85mm f/1.4

If you plan to shoot lots of landscapes or cars, then a polarizing filter would be in your best interest. However, you'll hardly ever use it with sports, since it loses 2 stops of light (which you can't afford to lose), and the reflection and sky-darkening capabilities would be wasted in sports shots.
