Buying new ram for overclocking

Ok, Im looking to replace my Corsair PC2700 that does a max of 215Mhz (DDR 430MHz) @ 2.5-3-3-11 and was looking around on Newegg.

Iv been looking at the PC3200 ram with the lowest timings and came across two things I dont get...

What is the differnet between This , This, and This ? That there is such a price differnece?

Same thing with OCZ execpt the timings are off by one here or there. Is this really worth the price over this or this ?

Now I dont understand the Corsair pricing since they all have the same timings? What am I missing?
As for the OCZ, Is 2-2-2-5 1T really worth the extra $60.50 over 2-3-2-6 1T ?

Whats the difference btwn 2.5 3 3 even, when looking at these? And whats the performance diff. btwn these and a value RAM when overclocking (3000+ to 2.5) in real performance when compared to tight timed TCCD?

Are you asking me those questions or are you hijacking my post?

different type of heat spreaders i guess, the middle one looks the best imo... lol, bu thte first oen i think would perform the best.... thats for the corsairs

the ocz the timings are different for the two cheaper ones, the first one uses tccd chips which supposedly oc the best and i would think its worth it to shell out the extra cash

You since you asked the justification for 2-3-2 vs 2-2-2 being 60 bucks difference 🙂 Sorry if you thought it was a hijack.

The Corsair memory is all pretty much the same (even the more expensive one). The first two appear to be their two different series (Corsair Platinum/Corsair TwinX) of RAM sticks, which both now probably use TCCD. It's inane that they still have both series but I guess they each have their own followers: the black heatspreader Corsair used to be for their XMS ("Xtreme memory speed") chips which were usually fast chips at decent timings while Platinum was for the best chips at the best timings (ie more expensivve). Now, they seem to use exactly the same chips, so you're paying the difference only for the brand name (Platinum/TwinX). As it is, though, it's only a few bucks difference, so pay for your favourite colour 🙂 .

The third one is more money because it has those fancy LED's at the top of the DIMMS to indicate RAM activity (ie. it's all for show... Some people are willing to pay a premium for this, like those with fancy modded clear cases).

In regards to the OCZ, they have two main differences. The OCZ Platinum Rev 2 is the best of the best: hand picked Samsung TCCD that runs at ultra tight timings usually in excess of 230+ MHz (and overclocks at a bit looser timings well past that).

The other two OCZ sticks are the remaining Samsung TCCD RAM chips that don't make the cut for OCZ Rev 2 (apparently binned into two types as well): 2-3-2-5 and 2-3-2-6 . The difference between these two is extremely marginal but I bet the 2-3-2-5 chips are a bit more overclockable than the cheaper ones.

OCZ DUAL CHANNEL OPTIMIZED PLATINUM 2X512MB DDR PC3200 HEAT SPREADER REV.2 CL 2-2-2-5 (OCZ4001024ELDCPER2-K)

what others say, your asking for the opinions of others, most say ocz and if you're comfortable with the price and what not then i would say go for it, although honestly i have never used any of those sticks, hell i couldnt if i wanted to, all i got a are pentium threes lol....
