Buying new HD

Hi there

In the windows 7 system review panel, I get good grades apart from my HD, which is only 5.9. It's a 1TB hard drive and with games been so big these days I was considering upgrading.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a good quality, higher speed and reasonable cost replacement? I think 2 TB in size is required. My current HD is a hitatchi HDS721010CLA332 ATA device manager tells me.

Will an increase in speed for a HD be a noticeable thing?

Are there are compatability/fitment issues I should be aware of with HD's? I'm a relative hardware noob in truth.

I'm planning on keeping my steam games so will hopefully either transfer to this HD or to an old external one I have.

Any information appreciated. I understand that the internet is very useful i'm not being lazy, it's just with PC components moving along so quickly reviews are often out of date!

about the only way to increase that score is to get an SSD. another HDD wont increase it that much, not even a WD velociraptor.

True, Your going to get the same 5.9 score with the 2TB .....

Also Hitachi is crummy hard drives,, get a WDC or a Sammy.... dont get a maxtor or seagate, you want to avoid them. Seagate was good until maxtor hopped in bed with seagate......
