Buying new comp not building

Ok I want to play new games coming out like guild wars 2 and bf 3 but really as long as i could play bf bad company 2 or anything like that id be happy

I was looking at this ^^ and i wouldnt mind spending more on a new video card and more ram if needed or buying a better one from same company.. but really i want to know is this company shit and what should i buy?? i could spend probbably about 650-700

With that budget you can't possibly build a good BF3 computer without building yourself. That computer will be terrible for any games with the gt520.

If you're willing to put in the video card yourself, you could start with this base PC and add one.

If you already have a monitor, this 6870 would be good.

If you don't already have a monitor...well, I'm no monitor expert, but it looks like some good ones are available for under $100. If you can find room in your budget to add a 6850, you might still do OK.

The computer you picked out isn't bad either, if you can use the rest of the money to buy a video card.

Otherwise, you can find Radeon 6850 and Geforce GTX 560's (not TI version) for under $200 without rebate.

If you need to buy a monitor...I'd consider dropping down to a lower specced PC (or building yourself) to get it under cost. The video card is the most important part when it comes to games.

I noticed that Dell. The biggest problem with that plan is that it doesn't list its PSU rating. I'd have to guess it's under 400W, which doesn't leave much power for a GPU. The iBuyPower at least has a 480W PSU. Even so, power constraints are why I chose a 6870 over a 560ti or 6950 - I'm just not sure how much more a no-name 480W PSU could handle. Looking at the bench now, a 6950 might work, but they're all too expensive.

The other problem with most computer brands is that, lately, they like to stick in one single-channel 4GB stick of DDR3, instead of going dual-channel with 2 2GB sticks. This would make it easy to upgrade to 8GB, but the OP doesn't want to fiddle with his computer's insides much.

Comparing the OP's AMD with my i3 2100, I'd have to go with the 2100 on gaming. Since he doesn't even want to build a computer, I'm guessing he's not the OCing type, if the board that comes with that machine even allows it.

I like this one to.. also the one posted up there I dont know with dell at least i know its a good brand.. i still dont know though what would you guys do?? is building one really much better??

Also ken g if i already have a moniter and just bought that computer and that graphics card could i just put the card in and play games like bf2?? cuz if so thats all i really want and that works but which would be better that or the dell??

I agree with Ken g6 the Dell most likely has a wimpy PS as most I have seen are this way... They spec the min amount and adding a power sucking video card will either cause the system to be unstable or just not boot... Also most of the PS's Dell uses would not have video card type plugs on them and might have a hard time adapting as all of its plugs would already be in use as well...? If you go with a Dell then also order a good PS (that will fit too) and toss in your video card and be happy...

I learned a long time ago "build your own and be much happier"...:thumbsup:

But spend a bit more and you might consider this...? If you dont want to build your own...?

Not sure of what board it has but for future reference the 2500K would be a real asset (Oops did notice its an H61 :\)... But also the board being an H61 should have onboard video which would serve as a backup if every needed...? Also it could be replaced with either a P67 or Z68 later...?
Also after reading several of the reviews you do get what you pay for as the PS may not be the best but most have not had an issue other than loose parts which with pre-built can be very common so check the internals close if you go that route once its in your hands...

Building your own PC is fun. The worst part is putting the motherboard in the case and wiring it up for power and power/reset buttons/lights. It's pretty straight forward though and everything else is pretty much just plug right in. Make sure all the needed power connectors are attached to the motherboard, make sure CPU is going in the right way (can only go in one way really), make sure the HSF of the CPU has power attached to it. It's all really basic stuff like that. Double check these things before powering it on and I'm sure everything will work out fine!

That's a very weak video card for that CPU. It's more of a match for an i3-2100 in a $499 system.

I suggested that one last week. If you can spend the extra, the custom builds directly from Cyberpower that I listed then would be a big step up in graphics power.

Or if you can build it yourself you can afford a better graphics card that way.

Neither one of those choices really has what I would consider to be a gaming grade GPU. You will get more for your money if you build it yourself.

untill i feel up to building one.. dont wanna waste money if i still cant play my games... really I just want a pc that can play guild wars 2 when it comes out, but if it couldnt it would be a huge waste of money so i guess ill wait for that to come out see what specs i need to run it smoothly and go from there

So guys im back and I think ive came to the conclusion that i have to build it!! so can anyone help me pick out parts and maybe give me some links to help me get started?? I dont know what i all need.. i have an old dvd drive and harddrive but i dont know if there suitable there both from 2000.. im trying to spend 700 or less it doesnt have to be the greatest as long as i can upgrade it in the future Thanks guys!!

Gigabyte z68xp-ud3 motherboard *allows of IB upgrade later on*
intel 2500k *fastest i5 on the market, will be anything when overclocked*
8gb gskill ddr3 1600 ram *can be had really cheap, ddr3 is ddr3, just grab 1600*
Case is up to you
HDD - use your old one or buy one used, the prices now are horrible
Video card - depends on what your budget is left over.

Either way the rig above is horrible and a SB build will stomp all over it. If you dont wanna build it grab something like this.

a windows license. OEM is $99 at newegg. and a GPU

the ram in that combo is fairly expensive. you can get 8 GB for that price. though, they're knocking the price down so that might be an item they mark up in order to mark down on the combo (makes the discount look bigger).
