I found this guy for $1700 brand new. Seems like a great deal, going to pick it up later this afternoon. Any pointers?

Mac haters need not apply. ;)

looks like a better price than at the apple store, even with an educational discount....so looks like a good bet. I'd wait for the Centrino version :p

There's a brand new thinkpad on my floor. I don't like it and it doesn't like me. There's also a 700M on my coffee table. I just don't like them. I'm a freak.

I loves me my iBook G4 1.33. Just make sure you load the thing with RAM. I have 1.25 gigs in mine and it is a very decent laptop. Plus OS X is da' shizznit. Configure Expose to your liking and you'll be a happy camper.

I'd be wary of buying a Mac right now...they're already obsolete! I would wait till the Yonah Macs come out in a few years before spending more than $1000 on one.

For that price, you can get a nicely equipped Thinkpad T43p.

my advice is get a program called "monolingual" to get rid of the 1.2+ gigs of languages that are automatically installed.
i would also suggest not using IE on it. microsoft stopped supporting/updating it and now a lot of sites like banking and whatnot are a pain in the ass through it. get rid of safari. dont even look at it. its worthless.

On a related note. I don't have a PC at home and have been thinking about buying the mini. All I need it for would be internet, email, etc...I'm not a gamer at all except for the XBox.

Opinions?

i have been advised, at my job (by an apple dude), not to buy the mini because we tend to keep them on all the time and they seem to have a "scorching" problem.

One thing I love about Apple laptops is their resale value.

Don't keep it too long and you can sell it for a lot of what you paid for it. As I did

Woa, what? A few years? I thought they were being released spring of '06?
