Which network will it be used with? It looks like we're talking about GSM phones, so if he wants to stick with Palm OS his only choices are Treo 650 or 680. Keep in mind that while P1 is nice it's only a tri-band phone so if're going to use it with at&t in an area that depends on 850mhz band roaming you'll run into some coverage issues. e61i is an excellent phone though (IMO) way overpriced for what it is. If your dads wants something smaller/slimmer he should look into Samsung Blackjack or T-mobile Dash.

well, its being used in india/europe mostly (he's on overseas assignment atm) so the tri-band/umts band weren't issues.

I went ahead and got him the P1. He didn't really care much about keeping palmOS, all the apps etc he has for it are now 2-3 years old, and much better alternatives were out and available for uiq.

re the phone, it is amazingly small and light, and much much faster than an m600i that i used for a few weeks. i'll post some pics/impressions later

at a sony store here in Delhi, it came to $Rs. 24500 which is about $607. it can be bought for less in the states, check www.wirelessimports.com

edit: that would be sim unlocked, and factory branded, no service, no contract.
phones & plans are totally seperate in india...so much better than the way its done in the states (imo)

Agreed... My friend has the Cingular/ATT equivalent. I'm on Sprint and my gf has the Treo 700wx. We tried to do the 30 day exchange to get the Mogul when it first came out, but they wouldn't let us. I love the Mogul! Plus depending on your carrier it runs WM6.

Tons of features, and it wasn't that expensive. Retail value = to the Treo 700wx (i.e. they were going to give us an even trade if I got approved for the exchange)
