Buying Mobo/CPU Combo's

Hey guys i was searching around PriceWatch and saw that they had a lot of good deals on CPU/Combo's as I am looking for a AMD64 3000+ and of course a Mobo that supports SATA. Do you guys have any reccomendations as to what places are good ones to buy combo's at, or should I stay away from that and buy the products seperatly. Thanks!

Well i was looking at going for something in this combo.. I am on a pretty tight budget so I was wondering if you had an opinion on which Mobo to choose and also if i need the thermal paste.. What would you guys reccomend getting for the heatsink fan aswell? Let me know thanks..

This is where I was looking..

I've been tracking this one 754 at Parts PC
AMD 64 3200 Gigabyte

I agree anyone have experience with these combo providers?
Thanks

Ya well I am trying to talk to there 24/7 right now.. I am not sure though that may seem to good.. Does the 3200 even come in the 754??

I was talking to there represenitive and they said it is a AMD 64 3200+ and the XP image was a mistake... They said they were going to update the image this evening. Anyways what do you guys think of that deal or Tiger Direct? Thanks

Yes, the A64 3200 was originally released in the socket 754 format.

As for the combo, go with Monarch. They have some of the best prices, have an EXCELLENT reputation, they're usually ranked up there with Newegg.

The mobo/CPU combo that I am using now is from Monarch, there are also many satisfied people on this forum who have ordered combos and barbones from them.

Things I liked:
Well packed
Free Far Cry, HL2, Napster
Great Prices
Free 90 day warranty
Pretested and newest BIOS loaded
Ships quickly, 4 days from the time I ordered to the time I got it.

What I don't like:
Weak selection
Thermal Grease and Memory are expensive

As for the motherboard, I need to know if are you going to play any games and/or overclock.
Yes, you will definitely need thermal paste. I didn't order any on mine because I was going to replace their heatsink with one that wasn't on their list., but they put some paste on the CPU anyways and didn't charge me. So you MIGHT be able to get away wiith getting the paste without paying.
The 8 dollar heatsink will do fine as long as you don't do any overclocking.

PM me if you have any questions.

I'm getting the winfast-foxconn nforce4/amd 3000 939 from Monarch. Great prices, plus free assembly/testing/updating seems great!

Well if I was to buy from Monarch the AMD 64 3000+ with Mobo.. Which motherboard should I get as I am going to be doing gaming. Also I want to try to spend 250 on this combo! Thanks in advance!

I would only consider a combo if the parts were exactly what I want AND the price is really cheaper than buying separately (shipping cost included) OR the price is the same and you get other added value like assembly/testing or longer warranty etc.
.bh.

:moon:

Well I like the motherboards they have with the AMD. and I like the warranty at Monarch. Plus I have heard really good things about the company. Plus you can't get better then the pretesting and preconfig. So with that being said now all I want is out of the Monarch selection for AMD 64 3000+ which mobo would be the best buy within reason of course!! Thanks in advance!

""Is it hard to connect these mobos to a case?""
no its pretty easy.just follow common sense.you ll know when you see it.

Yeah, $170 instead of $150. Its better to go for the 3200+, its $210 on their site, retail.

It's too bad monarch is overpriced right now... you get half-life and farcry free. But on newegg a 3000 won't cut it to get that deal.

When I bought my 3200 (socket 939) Monarch was actually cheaper than Newegg by about $10.
