These two look pretty good, but I'm still confused.

NEC/MITSUBISHI - MultiSync LCD1760VM-BK
SAMSUNG INFO SYSTEMS AMERICA - SyncMaster 710T 17-inch Black LCD Monitor

I want to keep it under $500, preferably cheaper.

Opinions of these models? Other better, cheaper models?

My opinion: If you're getting a monitor *for* gaming, then get a CRT. The only reason I would consider an LCD is if you couldn't afford the deskspace, and/or if a CRT strains your eyes too much.

Ghosting is very subjective, but it's quite noticeable and bothersome for me.

Oh, and I know nothing about those LCD's that you listed. Sorry.

I work all day with computers so eye strain is my main concern.

I do a lot of work on my home computer, but I also game a lot. "For Gaming" just means that I needs to be able to play games with it as well. I also run a mobile computer-based recording studio, so weight and portability are also a concern.
