Buying LCD Tonight--Final Help Requested

I plan on ordering an LCD tonight, and need a little help with my final decision. I am leaning heavily towards the Hitachi CML174B 17" LCD, mainly because of the great pixel response times. It will cost me $630 delivered free from Monitorsdirect. For about the same price ($636 delivered, though there may be tax) I can get the 18" Dell 1800FP, which is supposedly a solid monitor. Finally, I could get the 17" Dell 1702FP for a bit less--just under $600 before tax.

Any thoughts/recommendations? Thanks.

The dell is probably a samsung and doesnt have as good of a refresh rate as the hitachi. I'd personally go hitachi.

Here's the specs on the 1800FP, I'm sure you've checked it out already DaMutha. I have the 2000FP and I love it, I'm not familar with the Hitachi models. I'd go with the Dell since I've had good experience with my LCD.

I have the 18" Dell LCD right now and I absolutely love it. I wouldnt worry too much about response time because I have played all sorts of games and movies and there has not been any problem with ghosting whatsoever. I would highly recommend this LCD. And yes there is going to be tax on this monitor when you order from dell bringing the total to around $670. Good luck:)

Response time, not refresh rate.

oops, thanks... meant response time. anyways, make sure the Dell montiro you get has a response time of 25ms or less. Any higher and you probably will get some ghosting, although it is a matter of personal prefernce. Some people dont see it as much as others.

You'll probably be happy with either. The Hitachi is a nice monitor. I was considering that one but decided on the Dell 1900fp which cost me $695. I love the Dell. I have heard good things about the Hitachi during my research.

Good Luck and let us know what you think with whatever you get.
